BGC South East will see an influx of funding thanks to a 50/50 raffle presented by Rogers Media & Sports. The local club (formerly Boys and Girls Club of Kingston & Area) provides high-quality child and youth programs for over 5,000 young people.
The raffle is now live, and will hold two early bird draws, with the final winning draw taking place on Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, according to a release from BGC South East.
“We are so pleased to partner with Rogers on this initiative. It will bring significant funds straight into our after-school programs, subsidizing local families to access programs free of cost. It gives individuals real chances at winning tangible prizes, while supporting the development of our community,” said Jacqueline Collier, President of the Board of Directors at BGC South East.
According to the release, Alex McCoy Plumbing & Heating Ltd. has made a generous contribution to immediately boost the jackpot and the impact of the proceeds.
“We are proud to partner with BGC South East and support their work in our community,” said Chris McCoy, owner of Alex McCoy Plumbing & Heating, alongside his wife Lisa.
Lisa McCoy added, “We see this as an investment into our community, developing children and youth to become skilled leaders that will keep our society and economy strong.”
BGC said that the first early bird draw, on Friday, Dec. 22, 2023, will give individuals a chance to win a WestJet voucher, with a round trip flight for two to anywhere Westjet flies. The second early bird will draw a $1,500 cash prize on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024.
“The amazing concept about the 50/50 raffle is that it builds momentum, day by day. This provides great potential to raise more support to programs directly impacting local kids,” said John Noon, Lead of Branded Content & Integrations in Eastern Canada for Rogers Media.
“Local families really do need this support. We have been providing twice as many subsidies to allow children to participate in nutrition, sports, and education programs during after-school,” noted Collier.
“For the raffle to be a big success, we need the community’s support. Now is a great time to purchase tickets as a holiday gift. The impact of these funds really is life-changing. The bigger the jackpot, the more youth we can help.”
