According to the recent reports in PTI, India National Cricket Team players who are in contention to make it to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 squad of the side are all set to undergo extensive fitness and medical tests.
India National Cricket Team have named a 17-man squad for the Asia Cup 2023, with Sanju Samson being the 18th member as backup, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief selector Ajit Agarkar has hinted that the World Cup squad will be more or less similar to the Asia Cup squad.
Ahead of the Asia Cup 2023, India players are set to take part in a preparatory camp, which is reportedly scheduled to begin on August 25 in Alur. Meanwhile, Team India’s 18 World Cup hopefuls will undergo extensive fitness and medical tests in Alur. These tests are routine in nature, but the BCCI wants to conduct the tests before the mega events as well.
“Yes, the routine fitness tests of most of the players save those who have just played a series in Ireland will be conducted (Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Sanju Samson) along with mandatory blood tests,” a BCCI source privy to the development told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

Reportedly, the parameters that are set to be checked during the process are lipid profile, blood sugar (fasting and PP), uric acid, calcium, Vitamin B12, and D, creatinine, and testosterone. Also, sometimes the BCCI conducts Dexa tests.
“There is nothing new in what all are being done in between the series when players go through a break. They have individual diet charts as per their body type requirement and also customized training module,” the source, who has also worked at NCA, said.
“This is a known fact that if it’s a deep sound sleep for 8-9 hours, there is always lesser chance of injury,” he added.
