One-Punch Man creator ONE revealed recently that he’s been in the hospital for treatment recently, sparking a wave of concern from fans. The artist is apparently suffering from an illness that is tied to their asthma. And as winter approaches, ONE is warning against the many illnesses that are making people sick this time of year.
ONE is best known for creating the original One-Punch Man web comic as well as writing the story for the manga which is drawn by Yusuke Murata. The manga only recently emerged from a period of revisions where previous chapters were redone and drawn over again. These re-dos brought in certain story changes to boot. With new chapters having only just started to debut, fans are understandably worried that the story might go on hiatus once again even as One-Punch Man’s top hero was seemingly defeated by the series’ powerful new villain.

The Creator Took to X to Share His Situation

ONE posted to X, formerly Twitter, complaining that he had been to the hospital on several occasions recently. The full translated message reads as follows:
I’ve been visiting the hospital lately for an asthma cough, but it is not going away. My pleura have been inflamed for days now, and whenever I cough or blow my nose, I feel a sharp pain in my chest. There are so many diseases going around right now that there isn’t enough medicine to prescribe, so please be careful.
ONE’s condition doesn’t seem to be actively dangerous to him, but it could impede his ability to work. Of course, the ordeal certainly sounds uncomfortable. It seems that ONE might be suffering from more than just asthma, a chronic condition which can be seriously affected by respiratory infections.
Of course, fans took to social media pouring out their support as some commiserated with ONE’s illness as they suffered on their own. Well-wishes came in many languages in response to the original posting, and as word of ONE’s condition spread, they began to appear on other fandom spaces such as Reddit. Many fans have their fingers crossed hoping that ONE will get better swiftly and that the manga’s publication won’t be affected. But when it comes down to it, ONE’s health is the most important concern here.
