Brodie Brazil joins San Jose Sharks after NBC Sports contract ends

The Sharks have brought in a familiar face to represent them.
Brodie Brazil, the former longtime San Jose Sharks and Oakland A’s pre- and postgame host on NBC Sports California, announced on Wednesday that he has been hired by the team as a content creator.
“Starting in January, I’ll be joining the San Jose Sharks, creating a high volume of original content that brings you closer to the team and its players and all of their endeavors,” Brazil said in a video posted to his YouTube channel.
“Whether it’s game recaps, deep conversations or exclusivity from behind the scenes, my task will be this: to give you, Sharks Territory, something new and worthwhile to consume nearly every single day of the calendar year.”
Brazil’s contract was not renewed by NBC Sports California back in September as the A’s prepared to leave Oakland. His openness about mourning the departure of the A’s drew support from fans feeling the same way.
The San Jose State graduate and Castro Valley native was a fixture during Sharks games dating back to when he first started with NBC Sports in 2009 when it was known as Comcast SportsNet California.
He has won 13 Regional Emmy Awards and earned 32 nominations during his career.
Along with being a Sharks pre- and postgame host, Brazil also has a YouTube channel where he talks about various Bay Area sports topics daily. As of Thursday, the channel has over 62,000 subscribers.
Brazil said he is thankful for the support he has gotten over the last few months from the fans and from the Sharks organization for giving him this opportunity.
“From the inside, I hold huge gratitude to the sharks for creating this opportunity and for welcoming me with open arms,” he said. “ I’m so proud to be part of Team Teal, and I do not take this privilege lightly.”
