Watch: Attempted carjacking investigated outside local medical building

ORANGE, Ohio (WJW) – Video released to the FOX 8 I-Team shows suspects arrested outside a local medical building with a gun and dozens of rounds of ammunition.
A mother told police she almost got carjacked.
Police video takes you inside the investigation at the University Hospitals Minoff Health Center off Interstate 271 in Orange.
The police video shows Orange village police arresting two men, and investigators say they had a stolen gun with 30 rounds of ammo.
Police have been sorting out what happened, but the investigation began in the middle of an afternoon last week.
A 911 call came in from a woman who was frantic. She believed she was being carjacked.
At the scene, an officer said to her, “and he had a gun.”
“Yes,” the woman answered. “Like, right in front of a hospital.”
The woman said she had been waiting outside the medical building to pick up her son.
“Yeah, he didn’t see anything. I was waiting to pick him up,” she told police.
A report shows one suspect told police he had gone to the medical center for a check-up, but the victim said a man had approached her in her car, standing near the front door and pointing a gun.
So, she made a bold move. She hit the gas, got away and called for help.
“I look up. I see him coming,” she said. “I floored it when I saw him pull something out.”
The video shows, as an officer arrested one suspect, he said, “we had a report that a male pointed a gun at a female.”
“I don’t know nothing,” the suspect responded.
Orange Village Police are still investigating.
An off-duty officer got to the scene first and began taking action.
So far, police say both suspects are facing weapons charges, and the case has been sent to be heard by a county grand jury.
University Hospitals issued a statement, saying, “an incident in the UH Minoff Health Center parking lot was reported to Orange Village Police. UH thanks Orange PD for their swift response and are cooperating with their investigation.”
Again, that victim thought she was being carjacked.
Now, two suspects have to explain being outside a medical building with a stolen gun and dozens of rounds of ammunition.
Still, one suspect told police at the scene, “I don’t have nothing on me. My phone and some cash. That’s it.”
Cuyahoga County prosecutors say the case has been sent to their office for review of felony charges.
Court records show both suspects have prior weapons cases in their past.
