HINSDALE, IL – A Hinsdale shopping center has a lot of empty storefronts, but it is likely to have one fewer in a few months, officials said.
KBarre Hindsale is planned for Gateway Square at 777 N. York Road. It is a Barre franchise that uses the Bar Method in its workouts. The business aims to offer several types of classes. The Village Board is considering a special use permit for the business. A portion of the space is expected to be used for retail.
At Tuesday’s meeting, Village President Tom Cauley said the shopping center had a relatively high vacancy rate. He said the village prefers sales tax-generating businesses, which do not include services such as gyms. But he said the village also must take into account the many empty storefronts.
