Pope Francis’ cause of death was stroke and irreversible heart failure, Vatican says

Pope Francis’ death Monday at the age of 88 comes after the Catholic leader experienced a number of health issues in recent years.
Francis died at 7:35 a.m. Monday at his residence, the Vatican said. In an statement released Monday, the Vatican said Francis died of a cerebral stroke, coma and subsequent irreversible heart failure.
