Swansea police are investigating after an ambulance was stolen during a medical call and recovered in Rhode Island early Sunday morning.
The Swansea Ambulance Corps vehicle was reported stolen at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday during a medical call, Swansea police said in a statement.
Rhode Island State Police assisted in recovering the ambulance, which was found undamaged across state lines. An initial investigation indicated that the ambulance was “taken by an elderly male in a state of confusion,” according to Swansea police.
The investigation remains active, and the department may choose not to pursue criminal charges, police said.
