Massachusetts high school sports highlights for Sept. 24

Let’s give some love to the links on this dreary Wednesday. While conditions weren’t ideal, several golfers, and one team, went low.
Canton, which improved to 5-5 by beating Attleboro, set a school record by going 2-under-par for a 134 team score at Blue Hills Country Club.
Joey and Matt Ryan led the way, as they both fired 1-under-par 33 scores, while Harrison Weitz and Chase Thomas both matched par for a 16-stroke Hockomock League win.
The Ryan brothers weren’t the only ones to surpass par, as Dover-Sherborn junior Jai Moulton posted a 3-under 33 at Nashawtuc Country Club and senior Jack Carew of St. John’s Prep went 1 under at Ipswich Country Club. Abington’s Nick Harris was close behind with an even-par 35 at Strawberry Valley.
Find all of Wednesday’s golf action on our revamped scoreboard, with more than 200 scores and 70-plus recaps.

▪ A week ago, senior Lila Arkinstall laid down a single-match school record 18 kills for Wakefield. It didn’t last long. On Wednesday, senior Mia Kenny usurped her from the top of the leaderboard with 19 kills in a 3-2 win against Weston.
