11 wellness gadgets that can make your life better

According to data from Grand View Research, the wellness gadget segment is expected to reach $200 billion by 2030. New electronic watches, smart bracelets, sensors, and other devices are constantly emerging. Among the most popular are gadgets that alert users to health issues, anti-ageing devices, and products designed for an active lifestyle.
We have compiled a list of 11 health gadgets that are popular among social media users and evaluated their functionality and who can benefit most from them. For those interested in taking breaks between wellness routines, Hidden Jack Casino offers a range of online games that provide a fun way to relax and recharge.
Sauna blanket, HigherDose
The American wellness brand HigherDose, which launched in 2016, initially manufactured infrared saunas for hotels and wellness centres. In 2019, it released a home sauna blanket.
Although it had already gained popularity among healthy lifestyle enthusiasts, the brand’s team notes that its sales growth accelerated significantly in the early 2020s, driven by increasing interest in at-home wellness and stress-relief solutions.
The sauna effect in the blanket is created by infrared radiation and built-in heating elements. The gadget can be useful—if it truly reaches the same temperatures as a traditional sauna.
At the right temperature, the sauna blanket can help restore muscles after training (infrared radiation promotes vasodilation and increases blood flow), cleanse pores through increased sweating, relieves stress, and improves sleep. However, the cost of the gadget may not be justified, as visiting a regular sauna or bathhouse is cheaper.

LED device for acne, FaceGym
The US beauty gadget brand FaceGym entered the market in 2014 and has since released a line of skincare products, gadgets with microcurrent technology, LED masks, mesorollers, and facial massage scrapers.
In 2023, it introduced the Acne Light Shot LED device. It works through light therapy: the pocket-sized device is applied to the acne-affected area for 20 minutes, during which it is intended to reduce inflammation and lower the likelihood of future breakouts. The company claims that the effect is clinically proven.
The LED device can be used as an SOS remedy if acne occasionally appears due to poor facial cleansing or diet. However, acne requires comprehensive treatment, and the LED device is not a complete solution.
Price — £48.
Hair growth stimulation helmet, CurrentBody
The English company CurrentBody was founded in 2012. At that time, it became the official developer of Clarisonic skin-cleansing gadgets for L’Oreal, and in 2019, it released its first LED face mask under its own brand.
This spring, CurrentBody introduced an LED helmet designed to stimulate hair growth — the Skin LED Hair Regrowth Device. It uses low-intensity laser therapy. If worn for 10 minutes a day, the brand promises thicker and stronger hair within just four months and claims the device can also reduce hair loss.
In 2021, the National Library of Medicine published a study showing that LED light of a certain intensity can activate hair growth. This means the device may genuinely support hair growth, but it cannot treat hair loss entirely.
For individuals losing hair due to physiological issues — for example, anemia or a low-protein diet — the body lacks the necessary ‘building materials’ to generate hair. In such cases, the helmet can only serve as a supplementary option within a comprehensive treatment plan.

Smart sweat patch, Candesant Biomedical
The biotechnology company Candesant Biomedical was founded in 2015 and has since developed medical devices for the non-invasive treatment of various conditions. Its most popular product is the Brella SweatControl Patch, designed to reduce excessive underarm sweating.
The patch works using targeted alkaline thermolysis technology: when sweat droplets contact the patch, they react with the sodium in it, producing a surge of thermal energy. This heat causes microtrauma to the sweat ducts, temporarily deactivating the sweat glands for several weeks.
In April 2023, the patch was approved by the FDA. This is a significant development for people with hyperhidrosis, as the patch works similarly to botulinum toxin injections, which block sweat glands, but without the pain of injections.
It’s important to note that the patch cannot be used year-round. While it can be applied during the summer, the sweat glands need to function during other months to help remove toxins and waste products from the body.
Currently, the patch is available in American doctors’ offices: specialists apply it to patients’ underarms for three minutes. The patch is now available in US pharmacies.
Ear cleaning earphones, OtoSet
The young medical start-up OtoSet was founded in 2020 and began developing earphones designed to clean earwax. In 2022, it received a sales licence from the FDA and launched its innovative device on the market.
Both earphones feature transparent containers and an upper chamber filled with a liquid solution that enters the ears when a button is pressed. The liquid breaks down earwax, and a pump extracts it along with the solution into the lower part of the earbuds. The company claims these are the world’s first automated ear-cleaning earbuds.
The device cleans earwax using the same principle that ENT doctors employ with specialized instruments. However, it is important to consult a doctor before use and discuss any contraindications. For example, patients with a previously perforated eardrum should not use the device.
The company is currently working on improving the design and reducing the gadget’s price.
Price — $1,760.
Tampon for detecting infectious diseases, Daye
The gynaecological start-up Daye was founded in 2017, entering the market with a tampon containing cannabidiol to relieve menstrual pain. In 2023, they released a tampon that, based on vaginal microflora analysis, can detect thrush, bacterial vaginosis, susceptibility to cancer, infections, and fertility levels. Both tampons are FDA-approved for sale.
The company claims this is the first home test for infectious diseases that does not require a doctor’s visit. The tampon is designed to look like a regular product, reducing anxiety often associated with medical testing. Traditional home tests have long been complicated and inconvenient to use.
The swab works as follows: it is removed from its disposable packaging, inserted into the vagina like a regular tampon, then placed in a sterile container and sent to the Daye laboratory. Results are delivered via SMS within a few days.
The concept behind this diagnostic method is excellent, and such testing can indeed be accurate. However, in most countries, the same price would allow you to see a doctor and have multiple tests done at once. For this reason, the home testing method at this cost may not be practical for many users.
Price — $265.
UV radiation testing mirror, L&L Skin
The Japanese company L&L Skin, which has been on the market for over 20 years and specialises in face and body skincare gadgets, has released the UV Magic Mirror, a smart mirror that can determine whether the skin is protected from ultraviolet radiation.
The device is designed to test the effectiveness of SPF creams, which protect the skin from solar radiation and help prevent cancer and premature ageing. The mirror is equipped with special cameras that make the SPF coating ‘visible.’ If any areas of the skin are missed, the camera highlights the gaps so they can be filled in.
However, users consider the mirror overrated: “You can apply cream to your skin in a minute and check coverage with a regular mirror, or simply be mindful while applying it. This gadget is essentially an expensive addition to your cosmetics bag that offers little practical benefit, unless you want it for novelty or technological appeal.”
Price — $229.
Health tracking ring, OURA
The Finnish company Oura Health was founded in 2013 and, two years later, introduced the first smart ring capable of tracking sleep and physical activity. All data is displayed in the Oura app.
In 2020, the Oura ring was included in Time magazine’s list of the ‘100 Best Inventions.’ The company has continuously improved the ring’s features, and in 2022, in collaboration with the fashion house Gucci, they released a version that tracks not only sleep patterns but also heart rate, menstrual cycle, and breathing rate.
However, if you are not seeking a fashion statement, these functions are available in more affordable smartwatches.
Price — $550.
Metabolism tracking device, Lumen
The startup Lumen was launched in Israel in 2016 by two sisters and part-time biology students, Merav and Michal Mor. They developed a device that tracks metabolism, designed as a mouthpiece that you breathe into.
The device analyses the amount of carbon dioxide in the body. High CO₂ levels indicate a high carbohydrate load, while low levels suggest that the body is actively burning fat.
According to Lumen representatives, this data can help individuals choose a diet tailored to their metabolism. However, they note that the device does not guarantee 100% accuracy.
The device received media attention in 2018, but experts concluded that it could at best serve as an auxiliary tool. CO₂ measurements are likely to be imprecise, leading to potentially ambiguous results. Interestingly, just as bettors often rely on statistics when choosing among the most popular sports to bet on, users of such metabolic devices depend on data that may not always reflect the full picture — useful for guidance, but not a guaranteed outcome.
For choosing a diet, it is still best to consult a specialist. While it may not seem as high-tech as the Lumen device, professional guidance will yield more reliable and effective results.
Price: $299.
Founded in 2011, Hyperice produces products for muscle recovery aimed at athletes. In 2021, Fast Company recognised the brand as one of the most innovative in the world.
In 2022, Hyperice launched the Normatec 3 dynamic compression foot massager. It works by compressing air and using pulse technology to improve blood circulation, restore muscles, and reduce inflammation.
This device can be a good alternative to regular massages for professional athletes, as muscle compression and pulse therapy can speed up recovery. However, people who do not exercise regularly are unlikely to need it.
Price — $799.
Dental Monitoring mouth camera
The Dental Monitoring online dental assistance platform was launched in 2014 and began developing devices to simplify the treatment of oral health issues.
In 2021, the company introduced the Scan Box Pro mouth camera, allowing patients to photograph their oral cavity and send professional-quality images to dentists for an initial examination without leaving home.
The device works as follows: you download the app (your dentist must also use it), place the camera in your mouth, press the shutter button, and send the photo to your dentist via the app. The dentist can then assess the condition of your oral cavity online.
The mouth camera offers a useful method for initial oral examinations. Dentists can see the patient’s condition before an appointment or provide recommendations if the patient is away and unable to attend a consultation in person.
