Jordan Spieth has provided an update on his fitness as he prepares for the 2026 PGA Tour season.
The American underwent wrist surgery in 2024 and missed the second half of that year, returning to action in 2025 without a full offseason to prepare.
While Spieth posted several top-10 finishes and a T14 at The Masters, it was still a frustrating season overall.
Spieth is now looking forward to returning to the PGA Tour as a better player than when he last appeared at the St Jude Championship.
Jordan Spieth shares how he is feeling ahead of the new PGA Tour season
Without proper training during the offseason, it was always going to be difficult for Spieth to get up to speed in 2025.
Those setbacks have only added fuel to his preparations this time around, and he is well into his offseason work ahead of the new year.
“I’m very healthy. Last offseason, I was in a cast after surgery, and this offseason, I really didn’t take much time off after season ended.
“I wasn’t able to get things right where I wanted them to be, and now I’ve got five months to get them set in stone, so I don’t have to do this back-and-forth.
“I’m healthy; I’m stronger than I’ve been in a long time, and we’ve had good weather in town, so I’ve been able to get a lot of work in, but also a lot of family time.
“It’s been a really good mix, and I look forward to teeing it up here in a couple of weeks and then starting the season in Hawaii.”
While no one anticipates an immediate return to world number one form for Spieth, fans are eagerly hoping he enjoys another successful year in 2026.
Jordan Spieth has given Justin Thomas some guidance on dealing with injuries
Justin Thomas is currently dealing with a situation similar to what Spieth went through last year.
Thomas has recently undergone back surgery and is not expected to return to competition for several months.
Spieth said he has been in touch with Thomas about the injury and plans to be there for him throughout the process.
He even believes that his longtime Ryder Cup teammate will return to top form once he has fully recovered next year.
“I was told by everybody across all kinds of sports that you never come back too late, so take your time. He seems to already be in that frame of mind.
“Everything went really well, and I think, looking back, he’s very happy that he ended up having it. What they thought was going on was going on, and obviously, that’s a relief just to know you couldn’t have avoided it. I ran into that too, just curious.”
Spieth added: “I think he’s in a good place, and he’ll get the right people around him. Anything he bounces off me, we’ve been texting every day, so as stuff continues to come up, I journaled everything, which I thought was really interesting, and it helped. It helped to see the progress happening; some days it doesn’t seem like it is.
“So I’m fully confident that we’ll see a number one in the world-type Justin Thomas at some point in 2026. He’s just going about getting back the right way.”
