Newborn Baby Left Outside Fire Station in Australia, Police Seek Public’s Help

Authorities are seeking help from the public after a newborn baby was left outside a fire station in Australia.
Police said they were notified that a baby was found outside the South Tuggeranong ACT Fire & Rescue Station in Conder, a suburb of the southeastern city of Canberra, on Thursday, Nov. 27, at about 7:20 a.m., per a media release shared by Australian Capital Territory Policing (ACT).
The baby was taken to a hospital and had no signs of injury, per police. It is estimated the baby was born within 24 hours of being abandoned.
Police are now seeking dash-cam footage of a blue SUV that was at the station prior to 7:20 a.m. and that that they believe may be involved in the incident, per a follow-up release shared on Friday, Nov. 28.

“Investigators are urging anyone who has dash-cam footage of the fire station on Tharwa Drive and Drakeford Drive between 5:00 am and 7:30 a.m. on [Nov. 27] to come forward,” police added.
Police also stated that their “sole concern” at this point in time is “for the health and welfare of the baby’s mother,” and they are working to identify her in order to provide her with “appropriate medical support.”
