THE WOODLANDS, Texas (CNN) – More details were released about the Thanksgiving Day rescue of a 12-year-old girl in Texas.
Fire officials in The Woodlands said the girl had been digging a hole on a sandbar when it collapsed on top of her.
She ended up trapped in the sand.
The girl’s father was able to clear the sand around her head so she could breathe until crews arrived.
Emergency responders from four agencies were able to clear the sand and save the girl, who was unharmed.
She was later released to her parents after a medical evaluation.
