A new year equates to new fitness trends on the horizon to inspire us when it comes to working out, whether at the gym, at home, outdoors or a specialized studio.
Hot yoga, cold plunging, Pilates and jump roping have all been in the spotlight in 2025 due to their ris
e in popularity and they will still be going strong in 2026 due to being more easily accessible.
Recent snowfalls and cold temps beckon us outdoors for downhill and cross country skiing, along with ice skating — all great ways to enjoy nature and all of its bounty during the winter months.
Fitness benefits
At Crunch Fitness in Pottstown, their group fitness classes, such as their ‘ride classes’, which take place in their spin studio, along with their Zumba classes, are hugely popular going into the new year. Their popularity exceeds the fitness benefits participants gain from attending regularly.
“You can bring a friend, and there is a community aspect,” said Devon Reidler, general manager at Crunch in Pottstown, which will be having its three-year anniversary in February.
“ All the credit goes to Amber, our main instructor, who has been teaching for over 15 years,” he said. “She mixes fitness with fun.”
Reidler mentioned the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding weightlifting, which he said many deter from since they associate it with gaining bulk.
“It’s very beneficial for all ages, “he said.
Kickstart your year
New members at Crunch receive a free one-hour personal training session, which can definitely come in handy for those who have New Year’s resolutions centered around getting in better shape or losing weight.
“It’s a great way to kickstart your year,” Reidler said.
It’s also a good way to ensure you’re doing things, such as strength training, properly and have an appropriate workout plan to help enable you to achieve your fitness goals for 2026.
