focused downtown LR restaurant Flora Jean’s to close

Flora Jean’s, the “wellness-centered, plant-focused and nutrient-dense” restaurant from owners Helen Grace King and Leila King and their sister-in-law Kamiya King, is closing up shop in the historic downtown Little Rock Tuf Nut building.
The news is surely a blow to the restaurant’s regulars, especially fans on plant-based diets, but the sisters aren’t hanging their heads. “Now it’s time for our next adventure,” says. “For this is not an end, but an evolution.”
“After 4.5 incredible and beautiful years, we have decided to close Flora Jean’s. We are beyond proud of everything we have created and accomplished. We unearthed the earth. We chased blooms. We picked berries and grew greens in our jeans. We chased storms and we ate the rainbow. We lived, we laughed, we loved. We nourished. We flourished. There is truly nothing like her.”
It’s unclear what the sisters have planned for their next adventure. Last year, they teased the opening of Plain Jane — a “café celebrating Southern simplicity with a fancy French flair” — in the Hillcrest space that formerly housed Cañon Grill on Kavanaugh Boulevard. Construction started on the project last summer, but the Arkansas Times confirmed it is no longer in development. “We will not be opening that concept at this time,” Helen Grace King said in a text message Friday.
