Mass. man pleads guilty to embezzling nearly $8M from his employers

A Sudbury man has pleaded guilty to embezzling nearly $8 million from two Massachusetts medical practices he used to work for, the Massachusetts U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.
Adam Gentile, 39, pleaded guilty to three counts of wire fraud in federal court in Worcester, federal prosecutors said in a press release. He was charged in the case in December 2025.
In 2014, Gentile was hired to work as an administrative assistant for a Massachusetts medical practice before being quickly promoted to the position of office manager, federal prosecutors said. As part of this role, he processed payroll and oversaw other record-keeping and administrative responsibilities.
In 2015, Gentile began embezzling from his employer by issuing himself extra paychecks and supposed “bonuses,” as well as by using the practice’s bank account to pay off his personal credit cards, federal prosecutors said. Over the next five years, he stole more than $4.5 million from the business.
In 2021, Gentile was hired as an office manager for a second medical practice and was again tasked with processing payroll, federal prosecutors said. In April of that year, he began embezzling from his new employer using the same schemes.
Gentile also used this practice’s bank account to buy and upgrade his former home in Hudson and fund his side business, federal prosecutors said. By May 2024, he had stolen more than $3.3 million from his second employer.
Gentile’s sentencing is scheduled for July 16. He faces up to 60 years in prison, up to nine years of supervised release and fines totaling up to $750,000 on the charges.
