GENEVA, IL — A man lost consciousness after crashing into a guardrail and suffering a “severe medical situation” Sunday on Randall Road, according to police.
Geneva police, fire and paramedic personnel were dispatched around 4:04 p.m. to the 300 block of South Randall Road, just north of Keslinger Road, after receiving reports of a crash with an injury. Officer Kaley Smith, two deputies from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and “a helpful bystander who stopped to assist” found an unconscious man in his 40s in a car that had crashed into the guardrail on the east side of Randall Road, Deputy Chief Brian Maduzia told Patch.
First responders began administering CPR until paramedics arrived. The man regained consciousness and was taken to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital for further treatment. Maduzia said the man is expected to survive. In a preliminary investigation, which included interviews with witnesses, officers learned the car was traveling northbound on Randall Road when it veered into southbound lanes and made it to Keslinger Road before sideswiping another car and subsequently crashing into the rail.
