After Controversy With Girlfriend, Nick Diaz Health Update Comes to Light as Teammate Drops 6 Word Message

“He’s a brother to me, and it’s something we’re working on.” That was Jake Shields last year, keeping things cryptic when talking about Nick Diaz. But if you know anything about the Diaz brothers, you know they’re not the ones to lay their cards on the table. And Shields being a longtime friend hinted that something was happening behind the scenes. And now, it looks like we might finally have some good news.
After months of speculation, Nick Diaz’s coach, Cesar Gracie, has dropped an update that has fans exhaling in relief. In just couple words, Gracie reassured the MMA world. “Nick is healthy and doing good.” Short, simple, and exactly what everyone wanted to hear. But with everything that’s happened in the past year, can we really breathe easy just yet?

If you’ve been following Diaz’s journey, you know this isn’t just another routine update. The 41 year old has fought only once in the past decade. And that? A TKO loss to Robbie Lawler in 2021. He was scheduled to return against Vicente Luque last year. But that fight vanished into thin air with no real explanation. And then came the rumors. It all painted a picture of a fighter dealing with something much bigger than just fight cancellations. And now, enter Colby Covington with some addition chaos. Could Nick’s assurance of his health have been an immediate and necessary response to Covington’s callout?
Because of course, Covington had to get involved. Fresh off a loss and still craving the spotlight, ‘Chaos’ decided to throw out a challenge to the Diaz brothers. His reasoning? “(I want to fight) one of the Diaz brothers, you know, they’re big names, legends of the game, so they draw attention, they sell PPVs, and they get people excited for their fights. I want to fight legends.” Sounds noble, right? Well, not everyone’s buying it.
Kevin Holland quickly jumped in to call out Covington. “No (cap), I’m probably the best he will get plus I can’t wrestle,” he wrote on X. So, was he suggesting that Covington was more interested in purely making noise than actually picking a real fight? And if that’s the case, are these so-called “legends” even still in the game?

What have Nick Diaz and his brother been up to?
So, Nate Diaz has been busy with boxing. And Nick? Well, Nick hasn’t fought in nearly four years. With an entire division full of active contenders, why is Covington looking in the rearview mirror? Speaking of the rearview mirror, let’s rewind to the bizarre events surrounding Diaz over the past year. That video. You know the one. A man, who looked a lot like Nick, crouched behind some bushes, seemingly trying to light something on fire. The internet exploded. Was it really him? Was it just a random guy? No one could say for sure.
Then, just when things were settling down, his girlfriend, Kay, decided to drop a bombshell of her own. Taking to Instagram, she wrote, “Drug addiction doesn’t last forever; you either find sobriety or it takes your life.” That one sentence sent shockwaves through the MMA world. And then, just when we thought we had seen it all, his Instagram got hacked. Because of course it did. The official Diaz Brothers page posted, “Nick is out of county. This Instagram is hacked. Don’t support till further notice.”

Wait, what? Out of county? Hacked? It only added to the chaos surrounding the Stockton legend. No one knew what was happening, and Diaz, true to form, wasn’t saying much.
So, where does this leave us? Is Nick Diaz actually gearing up for a comeback, or is this just another moment in the ongoing saga of one of MMA’s most enigmatic figures? For now, all we have is Cesar Gracie’s message. And honestly? Given everything we’ve seen over the past year, that might just be enough. At least for now. Don’t you think?
