After Jon Jones’ Concussion Update, Dana White’s Medical Expert Helps Out UFC Champ Ahead of Stipe Miocic Fight at UFC 309

Ahead of his fight against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, Jon Jones put the entire fighting verse in the land of worries. And this time around, it was all because of concussions. ‘Bones’ has closed in on the age of 40, the age where most men tend to retire after a successful fighting career. The same is true for Jones, with just one addition. He is not done yet!
About a couple of days ago, the UFC heavyweight champion weighed in on his health and said, “When I was in my 20s, I would go home with headaches all the time, you know, concussions.” The world of mixed martial arts is indeed not far from concussions and brain damage due to it. With the risks highlighted, Jones admitted that he tries his best to avoid damaging his head. And now, the P4P #3 has associated himself with UFC’s medical expert as he gets ready for his showdown at the Madison Square Garden.

About a month before his fight with Miocic, Jones took to Instagram to share how he has been managing his health. One of the major helping hands that the heavyweight fighter has received belongs to Gary Brecka. ‘Bones’ shared a handful of visuals that showed Brecka helping Jones with his recovery.
In the caption, Jones wrote, “I am so honored and humbled to have spent the day with @GaryBrecka and his lovely wife – I can’t possibly THANK YOU two enough for spending the whole day at my home helping me with my health and nutrition goals! Your guidance and support mean so much to me. I am not sure I’ll ever able to repay you. I consider you a true and real friend. I am also feeling so motivated and ready to get a W and to tackle my health journey for the rest of my life! 🌱💪.”
Taking to the comments section, Brecka decided to lift the 37-year-old up high. The medical expert wrote, “Consider you a great friend too Jon. You’re an amazing human, a true champion beyond the Octagon and it’s an honor to be part of this journey with you.” Needless to say, recovering from a torn muscle requires intricate practices that can be attained with eagle-eyed supervision.

Now, Jon Jones has declared that he was ready to clash against Stipe Miocic with great finesse. But even though he admitted that taking care of his health came first, there was a time when he was proud of putting his health on the line.

Back in July 2024, Jones provided the updates that marked his recovery from the torn pectoralis muscles. Well, that was the reason why the fight fans weren’t able to witness the clash between Jones and ‘The Silencer’ in 2023. Just a day before his 37th birthday, ‘Bones’ took to social media and dropped a few visuals of himself working out. In the caption, he wrote, “Tomorrow I’ll be 37 years old, still in the gym, still putting my health on the line, still competing in one of the worlds most difficult sports. I’m proud of myself.”
During that time, Jones’ form was far from perfect, and he was still healing from the surgeries. But that didn’t mean he was about to stop. He went on and made sure that he recovered without any further complications. Now, all that the fight fans need to do, is wait and watch the story unfold.

But there’s one question that has clouded the fighting world’s vision regarding Jones’ future. Will he retire after his fight at UFC 309? Well, the former UFC contender, Michael Bisping, certainly seems to think so. A few others have also weighed in on the champion’s retirement. For now, let’s cheer him up as he gets ready to face one of his strongest opponents.
