CCAC Swimming
Aubrey Rogers finished second in both the girls and boys meets at the Collier County Athletic Champions but ultimately came out on top as the combined champion for the first time in program history at the FGCU Aquatics Center on Oct. 13.
The Patriots had plenty to celebrate as the final race of the day, the boys 400 free relay, ended with an Aubrey Rogers victory over Naples by .01 seconds.
Aubrey’s Ava Baldwin won the 50 free and the 100 free, and Cameron Vetor finished first in the 100 breast.
The Barron Collier girls team scored the highest with Julia Pieniadz’s performance in the 200 free and 500 free and Abi Burke’s efforts in the 200 IM and 100 fly leading the way. The Barron girls also won the 400 free relay and Torunn Boogaard took the diving crown.
The Golden Eagles won the boys meet, taking first in the 200 medley and 200 free relays. Vanden Sigmond won the 200 free and 100 free, Evan Plummer won the 50 free, Michael Richey-Klein came in first in diving, Nathan Ewards won the 100 back and Cruz Hickmon won the 100 breast to round out the strong effort from the Naples boys.
