“I’ve just had to figure out ways to live with it,” La La Anthony opened up about her skin condition earlier this year. The Power actress has been dealing with it for over a decade, but recently, the 42-year-old has shown that when life throws challenges your way, how you rise above them defines your story.
In her recent Instagram post, La La celebrated an extraordinary fitness milestone which is a triumph that carries even more weight given her ongoing battle with plaque psoriasis. “Today was my 200th session (workout),” wrote La La as the caption of her story. The Single Ladies actress has been quite vocal about her condition but only since September of this year. It took her 10 years to bring it up and as she did, La La has been a constant support for those in the boat with her.
Plaque psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that accelerates the life cycle of skin cells, causing them to build up rapidly on the surface. This leads to the formation of scales, inflammation, and painful, itchy red patches, often on the elbows, knees, and scalp. It was a major cause of La La’s lower self-confidence, affecting how she dressed and appeared before the camera or even in public.

“I’ve just had to figure out ways to live with it, being a public figure and someone that’s on TV, whether it’s how I do my hair or something that I wear or working out if I have an itchy patch, how do I cover that?” she said in a conversation with Newsweek.
Physical activity is one way to improve psoriasis flares and is cited as a preventative measure. Looks like La La has recognized it as an aspect alongside being proactive about medical treatments. She has been working closely with dermatologists to develop a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to her specific condition. Just a few days back she underwent a new treatment, plasmapheresis, which is known to treat autoimmune diseases.
“Thank you so much to the amazing @dr.kuo at @extension.health where we did a procedure called plasmapheresis or therapeutic plasma exchange, which can get rid of the toxins in the body. Essentially it’s like cleaning your blood. Now you know I’m terrified of needles but I made it through and it wasn’t bad at all. We also discussed peptides and stem cells and how we can use all these cutting edge treatments to optimize my health! I’m already feeling brand new!” wrote Anthony as the caption of an Instagram Story.
However, it is working out, and being consistent with that has shown real resilience from the 42-year-old.
