Dallas neurologist charged with sexual assault of a child, medical license suspended

A Dallas doctor was charged with sexual assault of a child and has temporarily lost his medical license.
Dr. Samir Shah, 48, is a neurologist with Neurology Consultants of Dallas and is affiliated with the Texas Health Resources network, according to his online bio . At the end of October, Shah was charged in Tarrant County with aggravated sexual assault of a child, according to court records.

On Friday, the Texas Medical Board announced it had temporarily suspended Shah’s license as a result of his arrest. The suspension was effective Thursday, according to the board announcement.

Shah is represented by attorneys Christy Jack, Letty Martinez and Audrey Hatcher from the firm Varghese Summersett .

In an email statement on Friday afternoon, the attorneys linked Shah’s arrest to a custody battle.
“The simplest way to gain an advantage in an ugly custody battle is to make a false claim of sexual abuse,” the statement said.

The statement added there is “no credible evidence” against Shah and that he has “taken and passed a rigorous polygraph.”
A spokesperson for Texas Health Resources did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Tarrant County court records show Shah is not currently in jail.
