DSS launches SNAP real-time notifications to update applicants quickly

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – The Department of Social Services (DSS) announced Wednesday they are launching a new digital service for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) applicants.
The new notification service will provide applicants with instant alerts via email or phone. The information provided could include case status notifications, interview updates and SNAP application alerts.
“By moving many of our applications for benefits and services online, and with today’s announcement of real-time updated notifications of SNAP applicants, these improvements signify greater convenience and an almost immediate response for SNAP recipients looking for information or updates on their application or case,” said DSS State Director Michael Leach.
SNAP benefits assist working and low-income households with purchasing food.
