Fitness Coach Busts Myth About Eliminating Carbs Form Your Diet for Fat Loss

Misconceptions regarding diet and fitness are common in the community. This includes unnecessary restrictions against the consumption of many foods, including carbs, which often take up the top spot in the ‘no-no’ list. However, fitness influencer Sean Nalewanyj has a different opinion on this matter and he explains why.
Sean Nalewanyj dismisses that carbs are inherently fattening components of food. According to him, it’s all a calorie game. Although Nalewanyj seems to understand those people who choose not to have any carbohydrate intake, he says it’s okay to engage in carb intake if one wants to. But why does Nalewanyj think so?

In his latest Instagram post, Nalewanyj revealed how he thinks one should not eradicate carbohydrates from their diet on the basis of rumors that it has fattening effects. Nalewanyj stated in his post explaining the carbohydrate and calorie ratio, “Carbs contain calories just like any macronutrient and so they can certainly contribute to a calorie surplus (the actual cause of fat gain) if you’re consuming large amounts.”

However, he also explained that the total calories, when counted, would not show any significant fat accumulation at all. Nalewanyj said, “This doesn’t mean low carb is “bad”, and if you personally prefer a lower carb diet and feel good physically and mentally that way, go for it.” He signaled that people did not need to forcefully keep away carbs from their diet.

The fitness influencer also made it clear that fat gain or loss does not depend upon carbs intake as such, but more often than not, it depends on calories.
Nalewanyj explains the necessity of the calorie deficit
Nalewanyj preached the importance of maintaining a proper calorie count as per the goals. “When it all comes down to it, what truly matters for losing fat while maintaining muscle (or possibly gaining depending on the conditions) is that you create a calorie deficit while consuming sufficient protein.”

He further explained that no matter what, calories in and calories out are the only way one can maintain their ideal body fat. “Net energy balance (calories in vs. calories out) is still the underlying principle that governs overall fat loss/fat gain – not any one particular macronutrient or food group,” he wrote.
What do you think about the opinion that specific macro breakdowns are only secondary as long as an overall calorie count is maintained? Let us know in the comments below.
