Food stamps, as they are called in the United States, are part of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). One of the benefits of SNAP is discounts through Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards.
The Census Bureau reports that nearly 38 million Americans live below the federal poverty level. SNAP is considered the most important government contribution in the United States.
Americans with EBT cards have the opportunity to receive discounts on basic household services in addition to food.
In August 2023, grocery delivery and pickup company Instacart announced that it could charge using EBT cards.
People who have used an EBT card to pay for services with the company within the past six months will be able to receive a $5.00 discount. This right will exist every month for a year.
Citizens connected to Instacart can get unlimited and free delivery on orders starting at $35.00. This measure is included in the Instacart Health program to promote healthy eating habits.
Other services also have their advantages
Residents with EBT cards can choose to purchase an Amazon Prime membership for $6.99 per month. SNAP users can receive a $30 discount on their Internet rates through the Affordable Connectivity Plan (ACP).
Those interested in joining ACP must submit their application by midnight Eastern Time on February 7th. Museums for All offers SNAP recipients free admission to the country’s museums, aquariums or zoos.
Citi Bike, New York’s bike-sharing system, provides free mechanical transportation services to SNAP customers. For electrical equipment, reduced payments are required.
