For both patients and the state at large, Massachusetts health care costs are taking their toll.
On Wednesday, the Center for Health Information and Analysis reported that health care spending in the Bay State swelled to $78.1 billion in 2023, an increase fueled in part by costly prescription drugs. High price tags for medications — including the new GLP-1 drugs designed to treat diabetes and obesity — also drove massive losses for the state’s two largest health insurers last year, a trend that is likely to cause a bump in premiums.
We want to hear from Massachusetts patients bearing the brunt of these rising costs. Have the prices of your prescription medications increased recently? Is it affecting your ability to afford necessities? Have other health care costs — like hospital bills or insurance premiums — hurt your budget? We want to hear from you.
