Inter handed fitness boost after Dumfries tests confirm Milan derby availability

Inter can breathe a sigh of relief after tests confirmed that Denzel Dumfries is not carrying a serious injury, despite returning early from international duty with the Netherlands ahead of this weekend’s Derby della Madonnina.
The wing-back left Ronald Koeman’s squad as a precaution and flew back to Milan early, raising fears of a potential setback so close to Sunday’s clash with the Rossoneri.
Dumfries not at risk for Inter in Milan showdown
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, via MilanNews24, medical checks have ruled out any major issue and the wing-back is not considered at risk for the derby.
Netherlands coach Koeman also clarified that the decision was influenced by the clubs involved.
“Clubs asked to have Dumfries and Kluivert back early,” the Dutchman explained, indicative of how teams often intervene to protect key players in the build-up to decisive domestic fixtures.
Dumfries’ availability is an important boost for Inter, given his influence down the right flank and the intensity he brings to Cristian Chivu’s system.
