Kamden’s career: A solid one for Evart athlete

EVART – Kamden Darling ended his Evart career in a spectacular way during the spring for track & field season.
In his senior season, Darling came up huge in several events including the high jump. He won his first six meets before taking a fourth in a Highland Conference jamboree, fifth in the regional and second in the league meet. His PR was 6-feet-3 inches.
He was a regular on the 4×200 relay, which won the Highland meet and was second in the regional to qualify for the state final. His 4×100 relay team was third in the regional, to qualify for state, and second in the league meet.
The relay team ran an impressive 44.6 in the 1×400 and a 1:33.8 in the 2×400. He was on different legs during the season but most of the season was first leg for both. He later went to second leg but didn’t feel there was any difference in pressure.
Darling ran two years of middle school and all the way during high school. High school has been his best open event and he was close to qualifying for state but ran into some cold weather during regionals.
“Its all mental,” he said.
Basketball was Darling’s top sport and he was among Evart’s top players as an honorable mention All-Highland Conference performer and one of the top defensive players on the team, according to coach Kris Morgan.
But he enjoyed track and field.
“I loved the environment and I loved all the people I run with,” he said.
