Lavar, one of the more controversial fathers in the sports world in the past decade, has had his right foot amputated but, despite the ordeal, is reportedly in ‘great spirits.’
The 57-year-old made a name for himself with his brass attitude and belief that his sons would make a name for themselves. He had been out of the spotlight for some time now but has continued to be a big fan of his sons from afar.
Lavar made bold declarations about his kids, and while he received backlash because of it, he was not off, not even one bit.
All three of his sons are successful in some way. His eldest and youngest sons, Lonzo and LaMelo, are both NBA stars.

After the Lakers traded Lonzo in the summer of 2019 for superstar center Anthony Davis, Lavar guaranteed that L.A. would never win another title in franchise history.
‘It’ll be the worst move the Lakers ever did in their life and they’ll never win another championship, guarantee it,’ LaVar told ESPN in 2019 after Lonzo trade from the Lakers to the Pelicans was announced. ‘They’re going to regret it. I’m going to have fun with it.’
The Lakers went on to win the title the very next season.
LaMelo was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets. LaMelo is now one of the best point guards in the league, is already an All-Star, and won the Rookie for the Year in 2021.
As for LiAngelo, he recently landed a $13M contract with Def Jam Recordings for his viral song,
