Liverpool Legend Carragher Slams Amorim as ‘Not Good Enough’ for Man United

Sky Sports pundit and Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher stated that head coach Ruben Amorim isn’t up to the task of being Manchester United manager.
“I don’t think he is in any position whatsoever to be questioning the people who appointed him,” Carragher stated on Sky Sports. “He’s not good enough to be Manchester United’s manager. He’s barely competent enough to be a Premier League manager right now, and that’s not me being disrespectful to Ruben Amorim.”
United drew 1-1 on Sunday against Leeds United at Elland Road. The Red Devils have won just three of their last 11 league matches.
Following the match, Amorim challenged the club’s hierarchy in a sensational post-match interview.
“I came here to be the manager of Manchester United – not to be the coach of Manchester United,” Amorim stated. “That is clear. I know my name is not [Thomas] Tuchel, [Jose] Mourinho or [Antonio] Conte, but I’m the manager. It’s going to be like this for 18 months or until the board decide to change. I’m not going to quit, I will do my job until another guy is coming here to replace me.”
Amorim Can’t Accuse United Board of Not Spending Enough
The former Liverpool defender went on to criticize Amorim’s tactics.
“He’s playing a system that is not in the traditions of Manchester United,” Carragher said. “So there was no way that they could recruit all the attacking players, and the wing-backs and maybe the center-backs that he wanted. It was going to be over a long-term plan in terms of windows. He can’t complain now about not having funds in January.”
Former Old Trafford legends Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Gary Neville and Roy Keane have frequently questioned Amorim’s style of play, which clashes with United’s history fast-paced, attacking approach.
United currently sit sixth in the Premier League table with 31 points collected through 20 league matches. The Red Devils travel to Turf Moor on Wednesday to face Burnley.
