Medical examiner identifies 2 men who died in Fort Worth gunfight on Thanksgiving

The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office identified the two men fatally shot during an exchange of gunfire on Thanksgiving in Fort Worth.
Javon Gayton, 18, died at the scene of the shooting while J Tavian Howard, 23, was taken to a hospital where he died, records show. Both had been shot multiple times.

Officers responded about 9:45 p.m. Thursday to a shooting call in the 2800 block of Broadmoor Drive, near Calmont Avenue, and found three people who had been shot, police said.

The third person was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

Detectives determined one of the men — only referred to in the news release as “victim 1″ — was in a vehicle with an unknown person when two suspect approached the vehicle and the three exchanged gunfire.
The unknown person left the scene on foot and had not been found as of Friday.

No arrests have been announced in the case.
The investigation is ongoing.
