Medical examiner identifies man, 39, killed in Seagoville shooting, records show

A man fatally shot near a park in Seagoville was identified by the Dallas County medical examiner’s office, records show.
On Dec. 2, Seagoville police responded about 5:50 p.m. to the 600 block of Fountain Drive, where officers found a man with a gunshot wound to his torso sitting on the ground at a gazebo, police said in a news release. The man was conscious and taken to a hospital, where he later died despite medical assistance.

The Dallas County medical examiner’s office identified the man as William Dean, 39, according to records.

Police said a witness reported seeing the victim and another male sitting in a blue Hyundai car. The witness heard the sound of gunfire and then saw the two get out of the vehicle, according to the release.
Dean ran about 60 feet to the gazebo, and the other male, who was referred to as a “suspect” in the release, ran from the park.

The release did not state whether an arrest was made. Seagoville police are asking anyone with information on the shooting to contact them at 972-287-2999.
