A Midland County woman plans to pay off medical bills and buy a new truck and camper after winning a $519,212 Big Cash Monthly Jackpot Progressive prize from the Michigan Lottery on July 12.
The 60-year-old woman, who chose to remain anonymous according to the Michigan Lottery, was selected in a random drawing after entering the lottery online.
“I got an email that said I had been selected as the winner of the Big Cash Second Chance and it just didn’t seem real,” the woman said in a release from the Michigan Lottery sent out Aug. 2. “I started digging around to make sure the email wasn’t a scam and called the Lottery to confirm I was the winner.
“After that, I called my husband and told him he needed to sit down because I had news to share. When I told him, he was shocked. When we walked into the Lottery building today, the shock started to wear off. I still can’t believe this happened to me!”
Now, she is putting her winnings to good use.
“The last few years have been tough with some medical bills that have piled up, so we can finally pay those off and live more comfortably,” the woman said.
The $519,212 prize is the fourth biggest of the 12 prizes awarded since the Big Cash Second Chance game launched in April 2022.
Entries are only valid for the entry period in which they were earned. Each month, a new drawing period begins and the progressive jackpot is reset to $5,000. The next drawing will take place Aug. 9.
