An upscale sports bar, Jonathan’s Grille, is planning to open a new location in Knoxville near Covenant Health Park.
The Nashville-based restaurant brand is known for its extensive menu and numerous TVs for watching sports.
This new establishment is part of a larger vision for six to eight restaurants to open in the Smokies stadium district by next baseball season.
The property for the new restaurant is located within a special tax district designed to fund infrastructure improvements around the stadium.
After swirling talks of a restaurant with Nashville locations expanding near Covenant Health Park, plans submitted to Knoxville-Knox County Planning confirm an upscale sports bar is opening adjacent to the Beauford Delaney Building.
Jonathan’s Grille, with a handful of locations in Middle Tennessee and one in Madison, Alabama, is proposing a multi-story building to house the restaurant at 406 Willow Ave. It would be just south of the Knoxville Smokies’ new Old City stadium and behind the Shell gas station at 411 E. Summit Hill Drive.
