Monday, Oct. 20
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
On Senior Night, Canton beat Stoughton, 3-0, behind strong games from seniors Erin Bigham (22 assists, 9 digs, 5 kills), Chloe Dubuisson (13 kills, 3 blocks), Caitlyn Reynolds (7 kills), MJ Robbins (3 kills, 5 digs), Mel McDonough (7 digs, ace) and Morgan Warburton (2 kills, 3 assists).
Calvary Chapel Academy’s Colbie Adams had 13 aces, 7 kills and 3 assists in a 3-0 win over Rising Tide Charter. Riley Hanlon (8 assists, 4 aces, 4 kills) and Kayleen Andrews (10 aces, 3 digs) also starred for CCA (14-3).
Holbrook’s Katie Nguyen had 22 assists, 10 digs and 6 kills in a 3-2 win over Blue Hills. Naymiah Paul added 14 kills, 8 blocks and 8 assists, and Ayane White chipped in with 12 digs.
West Bridgewater’s Rae Gifford and Ella Holden served well in a 3-1 loss to Greater New Bedford Voke.
Braintree’s Norah Downey had 10 kills and 4 blocks in a 3-2 loss to Needham. Lauren Caranog (28 digs), Zerena Chung (25 assists, 12 digs), Izzy Rotondo (5 kills, 2 blocks) and Avery Daiute (7 kills, 2 blocks) also starred for the Wamps (10-8).
Oliver Ames’ Theresa Kavolius starred in a 3-0 win over North Attleboro. The Tigers (18-0) also got strong performances by Lyla McDonough (20 assists), Chelsea Wagner (12 kills) and Lyla Yurrita (6 aces, 2 kills, 2 blocks).
Hanover’s Tess Madden had 20 kills and 3 aces in a 3-1 loss to Hingham. Sadie Chadwick (32 assists) and Addie Monahan (7 kills, 5 blocks) also starred for the Hawks (15-3).
Whitman-Hanson’s Brooke Steele (9 aces), Leah Barnett (7 kills) and Nguyen Vo (10 digs) played well in a 3-1 loss to Pembroke.
FIELD HOCKEY
West Bridgewater’s Brianna LaGrange and Kaitlyn Barry scored in a 2-2 tie with Silver Lake on Senior Night. The Wildcats are 12-3-3.
Duxbury’s Mia Compton scored 4 goals in a 5-0 win over Whitman-Hanson. Goalkeeper Erin Munro posted the shutout.
Hingham’s Ella O’Neill (2) and Libby Baxter had the goals in a 3-0 win over Monomoy. Sam Ruddick had two assists, and goalkeeper Molly Mc Donald posted the shutout for the Harborwomen (15-0-1).
Hanover’s Olivia McCormick scored both goals in a 2-0 win over Marshfield. Grace Gilligan and Katie Jones had assists for the Hawks (13-2), and goalkeeper Lucy Thibeault posted the shutout.
GIRLS SOCCER
Norwell’s Kelsey Tuttle had a hat trick in a 6-0 win over East Bridgewater. Hannah Morse added a goal and 2 assists for the Clippers, who also got goals from Emily Tuttle and Anja Johnson.
Cohasset’s Farrah Jackson had a hat trick in a 6-1 win over Abington on Senior Night. Regan Carroll, Regan Brinzey and Meghann Smith also scored for the Skippers (12-3).
Carver’s Haylie Alsheimer scored twice in a 5-0 win over Dennis-Yarmouth. Alexa Ryan, Sophia Tibbetts and Olivia Courage added goals for the Crusaders.
Blue Hills got a pair of goals each from Caoilainn Knight, Jenna Lehane and Ariana Rocci in a 6-0 win over Old Colony. Goalkeeper Sam Hoy posted the clean sheet for the Warriors (10-2-2).
Stoughton’s Sara Janelli and Katie Mitchell scored 5 minutes apart in the first half in a 2-0 win over Middleboro. Goalkeeper Molly Fox recorded her first clean sheet of the season.
BOYS SOCCER
Archbishop Williams’ D.J. Tandy scored 4 second-half goals as the Bishops (8-5-3) rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit to beat Monomoy, 4-2, and clinch a tournament berth.
Abington’s Brody Grafton scored late, assisted by Dimitri St Paul, in a 1-1 tie with Cohasset. It was Grafton’s first varsity goal. The Skippers (6-6-5) got a goal from Michael Giglio.
Rockland’s Philipi Franco and Kaiky Araujo scored in a 2-2 tie with Catholic Memorial that clinched a playoff berth for the Bulldogs (8-4-2).
BOYS GOLF
Both the MIAA Div. 2 and Div. 3 state championships were postponed by rain on Monday, Oct. 20. The Div. 2 final now will be played on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Taconic GC in Williamstown (10:30 a.m. shotgun start). The Div. 3 final now will be played on Monday, Oct. 27 at Blissful Meadows Golf Club in Uxbridge (10 a.m. shotgun start). The Div. 1 state final is schedule for Tuesday, Oct. 21 at The Ridge Club in Sandwich.
