This Luxury Home of the Week offering comes with a generous history.
The estate at 63 Goddard Ave. in Brookline was built between 1914 and 1915, and the current owners spent $5,000,000 on a gut renovation while respecting the property’s original period details. The property, which Debby Belt of Hammond Residential Real Estate has listed for an even $20,000,000, is on the market for the first time since 2007.
The Brookline property encompasses 4.5 acres, with a main residence, cottage, and apartment over the detached garage. During the more than 15 years that the current owners have held the property, they have opened their doors to those in need, such as medical patients receiving care in Boston and, since 2020, Afghan refugees.

The estate offers six bedrooms, five full bathrooms, and three half bathrooms in 7,550 square feet of space, with interiors designed by Ronald Bradshaw. The design does not shy away from color or pattern, with vibrant wallpaper and window treatments in many of the rooms.
The first of three floors in the main house includes a double living room with views of the grounds. The primary suite, as well as two additional bedrooms and an office, are on the second floor. The owner’s space includes a private deck, dressing area, and walk-in closet. There are three more bedrooms on the third floor.

The property’s sweeping grounds are home to a substantial terrace patio, koi pond, tennis court, and putting green. There’s a heated in-ground swimming pool and a cabana with amenities such as a shower room, kitchenette, and stereo equipment.

The cottage on the Brookline property includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a one-car garage, and skylights. The final living space is a two-bedroom unit above the home’s separate four-car garage. Two of the four garage bays are currently used as a gym, one of which has a powder room.
