USDA government page blames Democrats for SNAP benefits being halted due to shutdown

states that Senate Democrats are to blame for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits not being issued, starting Nov. 1.
“Senate Democrats have now voted 12 times to not fund the food stamp program, also known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP),” the notice on the page reads. “Bottom line, the well has run dry.”
If the government does not reopen this week, $42 million Americans will not have SNAP benefits.
The has resulted due to Congress not being able to pass a budget to fund the government.
In the state of Maine alone, about 170,000 residents will not have SNAP benefits.
