(WJW) — Recreational marijuana became legal in Ohio on Dec. 7, when the state’s new adult-use cannabis law took effect.
Since then, there has been no place for Ohioans to legally buy marijuana, many may be living near a location where it could soon be sold.
The Division of Cannabis Control is nearing the finish line to implement the state’s non-medical cannabis program. Under the state’s adult-use cannabis act, Ohio medical marijuana dispensaries could soon be able to apply for a dual-use license allowing them to also sell recreational marijuana, meaning sales could start as early as mid-June.
There are more than 100 active medical marijuana dispensaries in Ohio, according to Ohio’s Medical Marijuana Control Program, including 33 in Northeast Ohio:
