After a successful college career, which included winning the Heisman Trophy, quarterback Jayden Daniels was selected by the Washington Commanders with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He has provided stability at the position for a team that since 2000, has had 27 different starting quarterbacks.
Jayden made the Pro Bowl in his rookie season and led the Commanders to the playoffs for the first time since 2020. He also helped the team to its first 11-win season since 1991.

Jayden was born on Dec. 18, 2000, to Jackson and former college football cornerback Javon “Jay” Daniels in San Bernardino, California.
Jayden wrote in a letter for The Players’ Tribune about where he grew up sharing: “I’m not gonna say it was bad, but there was violence and gang stuff everywhere … There’d be some fights, obviously. But in the background, some kids were starting to become affiliated with gangs, thinking they’re this and that.
“I don’t think my parents ever worried about me going that way, to be honest. My mom and my dad didn’t play that. I also just wasn’t a kid that was easily influenced to do things. But I mean, there was always a worry. You could always end up in the wrong situation, wrong place, wrong time.”
