Trump, who is a notorious germaphobe, emphatically denied it and has continued to deny it for many, many years. Michael Cohen has told Raw Story several times that he did his own exhaustive search on behalf of Trump during the 2016 campaign. He maintains that he doesn’t believe there is such a tape because he could never find it or even any information to verify if it existed.
Still, Trump can’t quit the conspiracy theory. He cited the “four hookers,” that he had to promise to his wife wasn’t true. He then said that Melania didn’t buy it because of his fear of germs. He went on to refer to the fetish, telling the audience, “golden showers as they say, they call it.” The audience moaned either in disgust or support of their candidate.
“I don’t like that idea,” Trump told them as the audience began laughing. “No, I thought that was going to be a big problem. I was going to have a rough night. But that one she was very good on. She said, no, you’re OK on that one.”
Other things became known about Trump that caused problems, such as his affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels just a few months after Mrs. Trump gave birth to their son. At the time, she said publicly she believed Trump. Behind the scenes it was a different matter. According to a 2023 People report, she’s still “angry” about the ordeal.
“She doesn’t sympathize with Donald’s plight,” a source told the celebrity magazine.
At issue, however, is that there were some details in the dossier that described Trump as a target from Russia to try and manipulate. Trump appeared to downplay the 2016 intrusion by Russia, welcomed Russian leaders into the Oval Office and his campaign met with a Russian lawyer after she claimed to have “dirt” on Hillary Clinton. Trump also lied to the American people about his Trump Tower Moscow deal, making himself look even more guilty. Each such action made the dossier look as if it had some truth to it, even if it didn’t.
