The reaction has been swift on social media following the news that Juan Soto will be signing with the Mets.
The superstar slugger is departing The Bronx for a trip over the Whitestone Bridge to Queens to play for the Amazin’s on a 15-year deal worth $765 million — the largest contract in sports history.
The news came late Sunday night and sent Mets fans into euphoria, while Yankees fans were trying to decipher how to feel after Soto spurned the Bronx Bombers.

Barstool Sports posted video of personality Chris Klemmer running through the streets and shouting that the Mets had signed Soto.
“Uncle Stevie did it !!!!!!!!!!! Juan Soto is a Met !!!!!!!!” one X user wrote after the news broke.
“Juan Soto wanted to be a New York Met. How is this real,” Mets fan and Jomboy Media employee Jolly Olive wrote on X.
“WE F–KING GOT JUAN SOTO. WE F–KING GOT JUAN SOTO. LETS GO METS. I LOVE YOU STEVE SO MUCH!” a third person wrote.
But not everyone was thrilled upon hearing the news.

A clip posted to social media highlighted the moment he saw the report from The Post’s Jon Heyman that Soto would be a Met.
“Oh my god,” he said as he put his hands over his face in frustration.
“Juan soto is dead to me. Have fun being eliminated from playoff contention in July for a living,” one disgruntled fan wrote on X.
Soto spent one season in The Bronx after he was traded from the Padres last December.
He had a spectacular one season with the Yankees, finishing third in American League MVP voting this after hitting .288 with 41 home runs and 109 RBIs.

He formed a powerful 1-2 punch with Aaron Judge and led the Yankees to their first World Series appearance since 2009.
Now, he will try to help the Mets win their first crown since 1986.
