A Weymouth teen died on Tuesday night, 10 days after she was hospitalized in a head-on crash in Braintree, prosecutors said.
Alexia Nixon, 18, died at Boston Medical Center, Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey’s office said in a statement. Nixon was a passenger in an SUV driving down Union Street in Braintree on Dec. 1 when a pickup truck veered out of its lane and collided with the SUV, the statement said.
Prosecutors said the crash happened around 12:50 a.m. near 665 Union Street. Ryan Gorman, of Holbrook, was driving his pickup truck west on Union Street when he allegedly struck the SUV, Morrissey’s office said. First responders took Gorman, along with Nixon, the 18-year-old driver of the SUV, and one other passenger to a local hospital, according to the statement.

“The Norfolk District Attorney’s Office and Braintree Police Department extend our heartfelt condolences to Alexia’s family,” Morrissey and Braintree Police Chief Timothy Cohoon said.
Prosecutors allege Gorman, 39, was driving under the influence of alcohol during the crash, court records show. While still in his hospital bed, Morrissey’s office said, Gorman pleaded not guilty to three counts of driving under the influence of alcohol causing serious bodily injury, one count of driving negligently so as to endanger and one count of failing to drive within marked lanes.
The DA’s statement said Gorman was released on $5,000 bail. He is due back in court on Jan. 2, records show. Representation for Gorman did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
