BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) – A Lowcountry fire and emergency medical service crew took home a state title and won first in the South Carolina EMS Association’s annual paramedic competition.
Central Berkeley Fire and EMS crews participated in the contest, which takes place in front of a live audience and a judging panel, as they responded to realistic and challenging scenarios.
Going head-to-head with the regional winners from across the state, the team consisting of Firefighter and EMT Charlotte McMann and Deputy Fire Chief and Paramedic Justin Miles-Miller took the state championship home for Central Berkeley.

Additionally, Central Berkeley Firefighter and EMT Meghan Jones was named the South Carolina EMS Association’s EMT of the Year.
“Meghan has proven herself time and time again within our own department helping save countless lives. We could not be prouder of her hard work and dedication to not only our organization but to the citizens of our beautiful community,” Central Berkeley officials said in a release.
“These recognitions are a testament to the hard work, passion and professionalism that our members show day in and day out.”
