SPRINGFIELD — Mayor Domenic J. Sarno said he named a new racial and health equity coordinator and appointed new staff in his office.
Shenell Ford will serve as the racial and health equity coordinator in the department of Health and Human Services. As coordinator, she will work with a wide variety of community groups to advance social and cultural changes, promote cultural sensitivity and expand mental health training.
Ford, a research associate lactation consultation at the University of Massachusetts, is the founder of Heart2Heartbeat Lactation & Wellness and has been involved in other prenatal programs in the city. She holds a bachelor’s degree in public health from Temple University.
In addition, Sarno said he has promoted Rose McCaffery to deputy communications director and hired Shroyria Kraus as his new mayoral aide.
