Two new Planet Fitness locations are set to open in Metro Detroit this winter, expanding the franchise’s presence across the region.
EPIC Fitness Group, which operates more than 65 Planet Fitness gyms in Michigan, Ohio and Illinois, announced the new locations at 5640 Dixie Highway in Waterford and 3456 E. Jefferson Ave. in Detroit’s Harbortown neighborhood.
Mary Scott, vice president of marketing for EPIC Fitness Group, said the new clubs are part of the company’s effort to make fitness more accessible.
“Opening a new Planet Fitness is about building community and making fitness accessible, affordable and welcoming for all,” Scott said in a statement.
The new gyms will feature a mix of cardio and strength equipment, along with free fitness training for members. Planet Fitness locations also include a “Judgement Free Zone,” a trademarked concept intended to create a non-intimidating environment for people of all fitness levels.
EPIC Fitness Group said additional Planet Fitness openings across Michigan, Ohio and Illinois will be announced in the coming months.
