Budget gym Planet Fitness to open 180-190 clubs in 2026

A budget gym chain is set to open new locations this year.
Planet Fitness revealed in its Q4 earnings call last month that it plans to open between 180 and 190 new clubs in 2026. This update comes after the franchise cut ribbons on 181 new clubs in 2025, with 104 of them being opened in the last quarter of the year.
These new locations will be joining Planet Fitness’s 2,900 already existing clubs. It’s unclear where these new locations will be opening.
During the call, the gym chain also reported that it had approximately 20.8 million members at the end of 2025 and its total revenue increased 12% year over year.
Planet Fitness continues to be one of the cheapest national gym chains in the US.
The Classic plan starts at $15 a month, while the PF Black Card plan runs up to $29.99 a month, depending on location. Some plans offer month-to-month options with no commitment. All memberships offer free small-group fitness training in addition to use of all equipment on the floor.
Premium tier perks include having access to all Planet Fitness locations in the U.S., being able to bring a guest every visit, and access to the Planet Fitness Relaxation Zone. All members are also subject to annual fees.
The chain recently phased out its $10 a month membership, which it offered from 1998 to 2024.
Planet Fitness currently operates two locations in Syracuse. One is located at 628 Main St. and the other is at 6003 S. Salina St., Suite 8.
