Good News, Garmin Users: You No Longer Need Yet Another App for Tracking Calories

Garmin has hopped on the nutrition-tracking bandwagon, announcing at CES 2026 that it’s joining apps like MyFitnessPal, Oura and Zoe Health by adding the ability to track calories and macros (protein, fat and carbohydrates) to its own Connect Plus app. Now, you can monitor your workouts, health stats and food consumption all in one place.
There are three ways to track your meals on Garmin’s premium app: search in a global database, scan a barcode or take a picture and have AI analyze the image to parse out the ingredients. Previously, users could only use the MyFitnessPal integration (which is still live) to do this through Garmin; now, it’s directly available within the app itself.
Using your tracked meals, Garmin Connect Plus provides daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports on your nutrition, along with customizable recommendations based on activity level, average active calories, height, weight and gender. Powered by AI, Active Intelligence gives insights on how your nutrition may affect your training and overall health. These nutrition details can be added to your performance dashboard or viewed on a compatible Garmin smartwatch.
