Inmate escaped from Dorchester County custody, sheriff says

NORTH CHARLESTON — The sheriff’s office is actively attempting to locate an inmate who escaped from custody while she was receiving medical treatment.
Lauren Ashley Thrower, 32, was last seen entering a white Volvo at the Dunkin’ Donuts on University Boulevard, which is near the Trident Medical Center, the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media statement on March 15. She is a White female with reddish-brown hair who was wearing an orange shirt, blue jeans, and orange flip flops.
“If you see Thrower, dial 911 immediately,” the statement said.
Thrower was booked into jail on March 13 on a charge of identity fraud to obtain employment or avoid detection by law enforcement, records show. She was granted a $25,000 surety bail, but was still listed as a current inmate on the detention center’s website as of 2:20 p.m. on March 15.
She had two additional holds, according to the sheriff’s office.
The department urged anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact the sheriff’s office at 843-873-5111.
