Mariners prank fans with Carrots from the Clouds

Ahead of the top of the sixth inning in Seattle’s series finale loss to the Yankees, fans may have been expecting one more edition of “Hot Dogs from Heaven” to wrap up the club’s opening homestand. The parachuting franks have become one of the most popular in-game activations at T-Mobile Park since they debuted two years ago after more research, trial and error than you might think.
Wednesday, though, Mariners public address announcer Tom Hutyler had an unexpected announcement: Due to new legislation from the FDA, hot dogs were considered too unhealthy for children under the age of 15, and therefore unfit to chuck over the railing to the masses below. In compliance with the order, the Mariners were replacing “Hot Dogs from Heaven” with the healthier “Carrots from the Clouds.”
It took about the same amount of time for the first wave of carrots attached to parachutes to float down to the lower level as it did for the disappointed fans below to remember that the game was being played on April 1.
