Tottenham Hotspur are hoping that Mohammed Kudus can start against Arsenal on Sunday afternoon
Summer signing Mohammed Kudus has been one of Tottenham’s standout performers this season. The Ghana international has quickly settled into Thomas Frank’s system at N17, playing a pivotal role on the right flank for the Lilywhites. At times, the North London side have relied heavily on the 25-year-old to rescue them in difficult moments, which highlights his growing influence in the squad.
Many eyebrows were raised when Kudus made the move to Spurs from West Ham in the summer. The talented winger did not have a particularly strong campaign last season and struggled for consistency in a West Ham side that underperformed. But credit to him, he has already shown why Tottenham invested heavily to bring him in, as he currently leads the Premier League for most chances created this season.
Kudus’ impact has been evident from the start. The Ghanaian offers a different dimension in the final third, regularly taking on defenders and creating opportunities from wide positions. His best performance for the Lilywhites so far came against Leeds United, where he assisted Mathys Tel for the opening goal before scoring his first for the club.
Mohammed Kudus ready to return to action for Tottenham against Arsenal this weekend
Mohammed Kudus has missed Tottenham’s recent matches after picking up a knock in training earlier this month. His absence has been noticeable, with Spurs struggling to create chances from wide areas in recent games. Brennan Johnson, who has stepped in for him, has not been able to replicate the same level of threat.
However, Spurs supporters have now received some encouraging news regarding Kudus’ recovery ahead of Sunday’s clash with Arsenal. When asked about the winger’s availability, Thomas Frank said in his pre-match press conference (via the Tottenham Hotspur website),
“He trained today as well. So that was good.”
Kudus’ involvement in full training ahead of the derby is a major boost for Tottenham as they prepare for a difficult trip to face an in-form Arsenal side. Having the 25-year-old available would significantly improve their chances of extending their unbeaten away run in the Premier League while also dealing a potential blow to Arsenal’s title hopes.
Thomas Frank’s squad is gearing up for their toughest challenge of the season as they make the short journey to the Emirates Stadium. The Lilywhites have not won there since 2010, making Arsenal clear favourites heading into the match. With Gabriel unavailable for the Gunners, Spurs will feel they have a real opportunity to impose themselves and find openings in the final third.
Will this finally be the year Tottenham end their long winless run at the Emirates? Or will Arsenal once again prove too strong on their home turf? Only time will tell.
